Manuel, the tune you sent was the same one Nigel posted, with a different
key signature! Was that what you meant to do?

Ops! Now I realize I had some problems with the cut and paste!

You're right, I just copied the body of the tune but deleted the melody,
putting instead Nigel's one.

Anyway, this time there we go the Spanish tune (I hope!). Thanks

[scots-l] Tanteeka

2002-01-06 Thread Philip Whittaker

Tanteeka

Can anyone tell me the origin of this tune which is going the rounds at
the moment? My daughter has decided to include it in her programme for
Higher Music playing the flute - main instrument. Apparently it is
possible to play an all traditional programme for higher and get an A pass
if you play well enough. It has been done!

This information is not made widely known.

My daughter learnt the tune by ear so will have to notate it so the
examiner can judge her. If anyone has it in abc format, then please could
I have it - just to save her some time.

I think this is a pretty recent compistion but from where and by whom I do
not know.

Any clues?

Philip

one of which was The Poozies 1990 album Infinite Blue.

[scots-l] Aragon tune

2002-01-06 Thread John Erdman

Manuel -
Now that's a happy tune!. I knowing nothing of the Aragonese
traditions but my ear tells me the D's ought to be flatted making it
the key of Ab rather than Cm. (And the meter as 4/4 rather than
6/8). Do you stand by your original or might this be more like the
tune should sound?

[scots-l] Nigel's tunes ID'd

2002-01-06 Thread Jack Campin

I asked Iain Grant about the two tunes off Jimmy's CD.

He says the reel is Miss Jean Milligan and the jig is
The Drunken Parson - the latter is on a Ceilidh Folk EP
and he could tape for you if you need it.
