Since you didn't ask about Cape Breton music, I won't recommend Natalie

some of the above CDs may be difficult to find in the US; I recommend

prices and responsive customer service. Most of the above bands have
websites with audio clips; check them out! -Steve

Hey Steve!

I'm so envious that you get to play with other peopleI'm the Lone Fiddler in my neighborhood.

Bob: are you listening to Cape Breton fiddlers at all? There's a quality of abandonment...freedom, maybe? that is hard to pin down in words. I didn't list Natalie MacMaster or Buddy either. I wrongly assumed you'd know who they are.

You may also want to try these C.B. fiddlers:
Joe Cormier (the happiest sound I've ever heard)
J.P. Cormier (love the fiddling, don't love the electronic accomp)
Dave MacIssac (nice, old style)
Brenda Stubbert (bit of the Irish style)
Glenn Graham (this guy rocks the house)!

Although I'm a dancer as well as a fiddler, John Taylor Andy Imbrie's
'Live' is one of the few CDs of Scottish Country Dance music that I like to
listen to apart from dancing (and it would have been on my favorites list if
Bob hadn't already mentioned John Taylor).

I second that -- and while we're talking SCD fiddlers another one that
should be mentioned is Keith Smith, who has recorded with Muriel
Johnstone and is also very good (as well as great company).

It's utter rubbish. The only reason they manage to sell it at all is because
they're Microsoft. No other company could sell software this bad.

I want to buy more Scottish fiddle CDs.

We've all forgotten Hector Macandrew so far - I think his recordings
have been reissued lately.
