Re: [scots-l] MacKinnon´s brook

by the way,
Nigel MacKinnon´s brook you find here:
http://www4.ncsu.edu/~pfackler/Music/
choose the Cape Breton Tunebook and turn to page 21
Looks a bit different from your tune haven´t had time to play it yet,
though
Eva

.
one alternative name for it is given as MacKinnon's
Brook - isn't that a Cape Breton setting? Kate Dunlay says
may be
related - I think more certainly. Can't work out the proper mode.
Or,
more truthfully, can't be bothered working it out.

Yes Nigel, but I was really wondering whether it should be mixolydian
 rather than dorian - ?

Aha - yes, Matt wins again for spotting the second, third, fourth, and
fifth deliberate mistakes. /Very/ glad you're awake, Matt! If I offered
any excuse it would be carelessness, pure and simple. Oh, and
brain-deadedness. I seem to be working all the hours God sends at the
moment - looking forward to December.

Now, guys, see if you can pick this one apart. It started as a
fingering exercise and very quickly became a tune.
