Thanks for your suggestion. I tried that but get the same result.
During configure the build is now set to mips i.s.o. i686, is that an
issue? (or maybe even preferred?):
[sbox-DV20x0: ~/par2cmdline/par2cmdline-0.4] > ./configure
checking build system type... mips-unknown-linux-gnu
checkin
I'd suggest you try it without the --build and --host flags to configure.
