Re: [sdre-l]: the prophet

2000-01-14 Thread Neal Sidhwaney

I go through phases but there aren't many songs I really dislike by SDRE!
I didn't really start listneing to 100 million till well after I bought
the album, though. I can't believe someone said they didn't like track 4
on HIFTBSO - that is the single most depressing(and therefore, best :))
song on that CD! They won't even play it live!

I love the drumming in Roses in Water - very creative.

I agree with what you're syaing about other emo bands - but another band
that gets classified as emo is The Promise Ring and they are VERY good.
Very "poppy" - they put on a GREAT show alst year at the Rockcandy in
Seattle with Jets to Brazil Pedro the Lion.

I admit I didnt like the intro to the Prophet, i still dont. But the latter
half of that song is near bliss. It is so beautiful, its easy to sit through
the begining. To be honest, though Sunny Day is my favorite band, I skip 100
Million and Roses In Water. I dont care for these songs, and HIFTBSO is my
fave CD. Who knows. Hope I dont get flamed too much. Also, on another note,
Sunny Day is the only "emo" band I listen to. I think all the clones are
disgusting and teribly unorriginal. Just a bunch of punks who saw by slowing
down and ripping off SDRE they would look more sensitive and insightful. Emo
sucks.

But of course, all you people on this list are wonderful, and I didnt mean to
start a big fight.

matt also, if anyone is intersted in starting a band and live in the
AZ, please respond to me

[sdre-l]: [sdre-l] live

1999-10-23 Thread Neal Sidhwaney

i agree with the poster comment. i was like "THIS is the poster i get for
ordering early?" the only non-music SDRE memorabilia i have is the diary
t-shirt so i was really looking forward to it too. *sigh*

i think the sound on the live video is great but the video aspect of it
looks SO contrived. i realize this is much better quality than most
homegrown videos but they just don't seem very natural to me. i think the
music videos at the end are great though

i *DID* think they were wonderful live last year at Western Washington
University but maybe its just something you can't capture on film. who
knows.
