Dear Marck,

you will need to create the IASP travel time table files in DAT
directory. This is done by first running 'remodl' then 'setbrn'. Reason
is that we have a 32bit file in the distribution where you are running
on a 64bit system.

I did the make all cmd to make sure executables are correct but I get

I assume it has nothing to do with the regenerate IASP travel times table.

2010-04-28 Thread Voss, Peter
Hi Ofonime,

This is also what we do with teleseismic and local events.

I suggest that you put your 1 hour data in one database for each station or one
database for each channel.
then you need to define each database in SEISAN.DEF with :
CONT_BASE
you could then get start times and duration for the events you want to analyse
by plotting a single channel in mulplt and typing 's' and 'e', see :
http://seis.geus.net/software/seisan/node55.html

or you could then do as we do : we have a file where we type in the start time
and duration for WAVETOOL, then we use DIRF and a AUTOREG to put the events
into our the event database (DNK). After this process we just open our event
database (that is also our default database) with eev and do the phase picking
and location:

this is the file where we type in the start time and duration, the file is
executed in unix with the command 'source hp.ext' :
clairmont:/quake05/seisan/WOR_DNK$ cat hp.ext
#
wavetool -start 201004271555 -duration 420.0 -cwav -wav_out_file SEISAN
wavetool -start 201004271734 -duration 420.0 -cwav -wav_out_file SEISAN
wavetool -start 201004271939 -duration 420.0 -cwav -wav_out_file SEISAN
wavetool -start 201004272304 -duration 420.0 -cwav -wav_out_file SEISAN
#autoreg
dirf 2010-??-??*
echo "D\nDNK\nhp\n*\n" | autoreg
 for seisan 8.3 :echo "D\nm\nDNK\nhp\n*\n" | autoreg
#move
mv 2010-??-??* $SEISAN_TOP/WAV/
# EOF
Note in the next version of seisan (8.3) AUTOREG will move or copy the files to
WAV.

good luck, peter

Hi Ofonime,

Please let me know why you want 2 hour files and cannot use the 1 hour files
you already have.
The 'waveforn is too large' migth be due to a high sample rate. What is your
sample rate and do you have three channels in each file ?

You cannot plot the data with EEV if data is not in your working directory or
in WAV, try to copy your data to your working directory start EEV and use the
command 'w' it will tell you if it can find the data file.

in SEISAN.DEF you need to set the
CONT_BASE
to the code of the database where you have done the registering your continous
1 hour data files
use AUTOREG to do the registering of the 1 hour files:
http://seis.geus.net/software/seisan/node57.html

to get 2 hour files try :
wavetool -start 201004260200 -duration 7200.0 -cwav -wav_out_file SEISAN

Hi Peter,
I have been able to merge the file into a one 2 hour file using CONT in
mulplt.I have not been able to register it, it tells me that the waveform is
too large. When i tried to plot the file using po in eev, it told me no such
waveform was found. What value should I put for CONT_BEFORE and CONT_AFTER in
the SEISAN.DEF programme for a 120 minutes duration file? The ones in the
default are 20 and 1 respectively. I guess that is where the problem is?.

Hi Ofonime,

I suggest that you put your one hour data files into a continuous database,
that is defined in a local SEISAN.DEF file, and then run this command for every
time window you wish :

wavetool -start 201004260200 -duration 7200.0 -cwav -wav_out_file SEISAN

http://seis.geus.net/software/seisan/node10.html

Good luck, peter
