I for one would be interested in knowing if you can comment about
specific hardware (hopefully things currently available) that might serve
as examples of some of the things you've discussed:
i.e.: access points
Ray, May I ask:
did you use the D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G as is or did you reflash it with
openWRT or ddwrt?
what power does it use: a 12 volt DC supply?

Does their Wireless card provide the connectivity necessary to serve as an
access point for the client XOs or do you need another device, and if so,
which device is being used in Afghanistan or any where else for that
matter?
The specs on this device sound very much like those of the fit-PC2 which
I'd be gratefull if someone on the list could help me set up an XS using a
desktop.
For reasons I can not understand, the eth1 is not recognized
although research suggests that the correct driver is there.
