he configurado el acceso a internet en una escuela acá en nicaragua, y
he usado esta configuración para dhcp, las xo se conectan sin problema,
pero si quiero conectar una desktop a esta red con ip estática, no me
deja conectar, creo que es por que no he creado un pool con un rango

la configuración default de dhcpd te da un rango para que uses con
equipos con IP estática.
No tienes que tocar la conf de dhcpd para nada (y tocarla crea un
montón de problemas, nuestra conf de red es muy específica).
Simplemente toma el desktop y configura IP, route y DNS a mano.

He is using a match rule granting only IPs with XO MAC addresses (now
queue Wad yelling, DON'T DO THAT :-)
(Although I don't think his allow and deny rules will do what he wants
given the subnetting)

Ahhh, so that's the funny dhcpd! I won't say don't do that. Instead,

Si es como dice Reuben, agrega el MAC address al whitelist que
controla acceso a Internet. No sé dónde está el whitelist...
