On the startup page, when
Library->Photos
is chosen in the sidebar, on top of the pictures, a few buttons
Type ... Flag ... Rating
do appear, each usually followed by some icons which usually can be
clicked on, e.g., for "Rating" to

0.23.1 compiled well here, however, "Rating" and "Flag" buttons did not
work anymore. I had to fall back to 0.23.0 in order to get that working
again.
This happened on two machines, both on Ubuntu 16.04.
Could this possibly be checked?
