Hola. Tengo dos preguntitas, compadres:
I have setup a new CUPS system -- I really like this way better than the
ye ole LPRng/LPD BSD/V stuff. One thing I cannot figure out how to do
without an administrator vi'ing the config files is hinting the system
about mime files. This sounds confusing;let me explain. For example,
here we have text files, plain text and no more, but with a .pd suffix.
I would like the users to be able to print arbitrarily suffixed files as
any mime type they want, e.g. Bob would like to print what is really a
JPEG file but it has a .NET suffix. The only way I know how to do this
is for the administrator to edit the config files to have cups recognize
that such a prefix indicates a jpeg file. I am thinking about using some
of the other recognition directives like printable() in the config
files, however I think it would be much cleaner to give the user the
ability to specify the mime type the file should be interpreted as.
Suggestions? Sorry, I am not thinking clearly; I am kind of tired. Maybe
there is an obvious solution to this that I am missing ;[
