Addition to previous workaround:
Setup now asked me to install X11. Cancel stopped setup. After
installing X11 setup ended without errors.

Bumped into the same problem.
Found a workaround:
- the failed install left the file behind in libs/libjpeg.8.dylib
- copy that one to /usr/local/lib (with sudo)
