I know Vatsan. He's a good chap, and very friendly.

I'm told that it's a kind of clique..and I don't want to face camera-elitism

It is not a clique, and that's something I've tried very hard (and was
successful) to avoid while I was organising the walks. It's just that over
the last 2 years and 20+ walks, we've all come to know each other very well
and meet often, and outside the context of the walks. And in each walk, we
get a good contingent of newcomers, who become old faithfuls in the space of
2 - 3 walks. We are like the mythical Tamil *sanga palagai*. Forever
expanding to accommodate new people.

There will not be any elitism, camera wise or age wise. One of the
longest-serving walker, so to speak, Velachery Balu, is at least 20 years
older than I am. And he enjoys the walk as much as I do. Perhaps more. And
we all enjoy his company and his photos. So no ageism. All are welcome.

To put it in a different way, the only thing I/we look for are people who
love to explore Madras and come expecting to have fun walking around the
city early in the morning or late in the nights. Nothing else matters. No
camera? Come, just walk. Small camera? Come, walk and shoot. Large camera?
If you can handle it, walk, shoot and let me borrow yours. Cannot walk?
(There are a few people who couldn't/don't) Come along behind us on your
bike/scooter/car/autorickshaw and shoot photos.
