My efforts in making clear EIS are all in the archives, so I won't
repeat it all here. But I can sum it up by saying something in the water
or air here makes it a very iffy proposition. DW must be no more than .3
to .4 uS on the PWT or my CS goes to some color even at lower ppm.
Anything over .4uS and it goes very yellow.
What has become clear :-) , is that it must be the local water. I
distill filtered tap water, but a couple times a year for some reason
must double distill it to get clear CS. Say I run a batch of DW, and it
comes out, .4 or .5 uS, and then I run it through again and it comes out
.4 uS (yes that has happened) even though the PWT reading is the same
the double distilled water will make clear CS and the single distilled
won't. None of the commercially distilled water available here is pure
enough.
I have two generators--- Silvergen SG-6 and a Silverpuppy thermal
stir. On the PWT, at full on the dial the SG-6 gives about 15 uS, and
so does the silverpuppy. The pup I can bypass the auto-off though and
run to any uS I want. For my purposes I do use the ballpark idea that uS
is more or less equivalent to ppm. Not entirely accurate, but close enough.

I push mine a bit past 22ppm, and it may get a slight tint but not
enough to worry about. I stopped adding H2O2 because found I hate
the taste. A pale yellow tint means some of the ions were converted
to oxides during the brewing process, but the oxides are inert and
won't harm you.
