This is partly true. Their main objective is to verify that you have
nothing that is ferromagnetic, which will get jerked right out under the
strong aligning magnetic field. Large pieces of metal can also get a
reactive force in the opposite direction due to eddy currents during the
pulses.
Silver isn't attracted to magnets.
I haven't heard of anyones silver fillings being sucked through their
checks, nor does an MRI pull the iron in tattoo ink out.

of CS and then had a MRI? I know before a MRI they'll give you a special eye
exam, if they deem necessary, to check for metal fragments in the eyes.
