If one is in a hurry, and has safety glasses or goggles, I just pick my largest and lousiest
screw driver and short the terminals together.

Here again, one needs to calculate the size and mass of the arc first. <grin>

Another valuable trick I learned, ........ In a large building when I cannot fine the place to
turn the power off,

  I just short the hot to the neutral.

  Then guess what ?

  Many, many people are helping me look for the proper electrical panel.
