upon awakening, drink one small glass of warm water. After several
minutes to a half hour, drink one 6 oz glass of prune juice. If having
trouble passing stools, never strain, drink MORE WARM WATER. This
solved my problem.
Sorry, late to the discussion, but does she eat pumpkin seeds and chew and
swallow the shells? I had this same kind of problem fromdoing that,
which led to an anal fissure that did have to be surgically corrected. Now I
crack the shells and eat the meat only.

Also you might suggest she get thyroid tested. That kind of constipation
can be a symptom of hypothyroid. She would need to test Free T3,
Free T4, and not just TSH.
