I just tried your script to install an image one of our nodes and this
succeeded. But we have different grub version:
* 1.98+20100804-14+squeeze1
This contains a patch for lvm2. grub cannot handle symlinks in /dev/mapper:

The server and the image are ubuntu 10.04 lucid lynx
I'm running grub 1.98-1ubuntu7
