Not sure I was clear enough. The goal is to find out what the read/write/tx
profile of the application is as if slony wasn't there.
If your intent was to suggest that if we aggregated slony stats so that we
could subsequently use them to get the net statistics then yes, this would
work

The reason for copying from 9.3 to 8.4 is that an 8.4 is in the upgrade
path.
It will be temporary, but necessary.

Actually I think it is because a pg_dump of the db is going on.
Can you dump a slave ?
Do you have to exclude the slony clusters (which would make sense)?

We have an old slave that will not let us drop a cluster. The error is
ERROR: "x_pkey" is an index.

I have checked and rechecked this. The slony user on 9.3 has bytea_output
set to escape, but for some reason hex encoded data is in the logs.
Where in the code can I check to see how or why this is happening ?

So I changed the bytea_output at the cluster level and it now works ???
This is not consistent with my understanding of how pg should handle user

Due to the usage of capital letters in the slony cluster execute script
fails.
I am looking to replicate execute script for DDL changes. From what I can
see execute script takes a lock out on sl_lock before executing the script,
and releases it at the end.
What else am I missing ?

I managed to create a path which had a user which was wrong, then executed
a subscribe set on that path.
