Hi
Thanks to Anand and the other people who've given advice.
Personally if I had to do this, I'd be thinking about
downloading dia source and compiling. If you are on dialup it'd be
much faster than downloading all the dependancies I'd imagine.
Yes, I think I'll try compiling next.
Dear List :
It's seem2 common questions, but I just cant find
answers .
1 .How could I get source file from *.src.rpm ?
2.After "rpm --recompile *.src.rpm" ,thereare
always *.i386.rpm
*.devel.rpm
under /usr/src/redhat/arch/i386/rpms
,
could you tell me what is *.devel.rpm ?
Is there any body that would like to sell or give a copy of Suse 7.3.
I would be prepared to pay a resonable amount for either including carriage.
I live near Noosa so an e-mail sent will get a response of my address.
Or if you like to talk, my phone No. is 07 54710284
Thank you

Dear List:
I can soft-shutdown my Win98(ie , I dont need to press
power-button to close power)
But I found that I cant do it on Redhat70 by typing "shutdown
now".
Could you give some clue ?
Thanks in advance!
Henry
Suse 8.0 came out just recently :-)
Are you wanting that instead ?
(not that I have it but I think you can purchase it direct from suse)

in the past I've had to recompile the kernel and enable all
the apm/power management stuff to make shutdown

Yep the old rp_filter trap!
Had me stumped for about 10 mins as well.
You only need to disable it on the sm200d interface though.

If the power management isn't compiled in, maybe RedHat have made it a
module. If they have, it will be called apm, so you can load it with
modprobe apm. Then try the shutdown -h now.
