In order to keep my log files more orderly, I rotate them at 12:01 each
morning with the previous day's log named for that day. Every few days I
manually upload them to ftp.sortmonster.net File sizes run 8-11mb on average.
Until recently, I've never had any noticible issues doing it this way.

I'm having trouble uploading my log files also. Here is an excerpt from
the log.

Hello Jacques,
It seems that your upload script is attempting to make a subdirectory
on the log upload ftp server. This is not allowed. When you login as
snifferlog you are automatically put in the correct directory so all
you need to do next is PUT.
