I'm taking a trip to San Diego for a combination of Vacation (Yeah!) and to
see how I'd like it for possible relocation (I figure it'll be a year before

400 sq in = 2.78 sq ft (400/144) because there are 144 sq inches in 1 sq ft
Wing loading = total weight / wing area = 8 oz / 2.78 sq ft = 2.88 oz / sq
ft
Hope this helps
Divide the wing area in square inches by 144 to get it in square feet. Then
divide the weight in ounces by the area in square feet. 400/144 = 2.778 sq.
ft.
8/2.778 = 2.88 oz./sq.ft.
