Gordy,
I too look forward to flying the Easy Glider as a step up from the Easy
Star in the near future. I am on my 4th Easy Star, one of which I added
flaps and ailerons. I love the Easy Star as a trainer plane for all
stages of a pilot's development as it minimizes the burden on the pocket

It is now groundhog day #4...
We do have wi-fi access at the field here, and I have a laptop, so I can do
some emails occasionally. It is now Thursday morning, just before the start of

Easy to say when you don't play the game... fly UNL / 2m / RES or a F3x
event at Nats and show us were you rank amongst us, and then tell me it has
no real bearing.
I'd be pumping up the masses for the scale X/C event next year if I were

Good job Bob! I too had a great time. I think I was lucky with the air I

Bill,
Good point, but if you could feasably hold the Nats in the big CA, there
would be 300+ pilots entered too, you definatley have the concentrated numbers.
That comparison is kind of apples/oranges comparison in my book. But yes,
Visalia is "the" weekend party of RC soaring in the US,
One other point:
The NATS had ~150 participants. While Visalia consistently has to limit
there entrants to 300.
Visalia gets my vote!

John,
Just a short note to straighten up some numbers you used. Soaring had 153
regisitered pilots and 408 total entries for the Nats(2.3 entries/pilot).
Electric looks more like what you are talking about than soaring and the AMA
takes notice that we have the second or third largest group

I don't know Cal. I see many new fliers starting competition with an RES
plane. Usually a 3 meter RES.
It makes more sense to start someone out on a 3 Meter RES than a 2 Meter
full house.
Afterall this is the National competition. You should not be there if you
only have a few flights on
Don't you think that the pilots that landed out in Unlimited on the 1st day
treated the second day as a "fun fly"? It was for me. (There is no
dropout round.)
When your not competing in the top 20 it's just a "fun fly". If you would
take a poll, most pilots would say, "I'm here to have fun"
Woodcrafters is very limited. Wood built up planes only. No Duo Discus'
allowed. No Ava, no Soprano, no Supra, etc.
