Karl Miller AKA Icon Man (now flying a Perfect) decided to head over from Chicago to harvest some wood this morning, it was raining but cleared for a phenomenal day of weather and soaring like we haven't seen in a few months...but Cal P and Ken Bates had other plans....
Still stinking from my theft of their RES and Unlimited wood yesterday, they got together and worked up a strategy to get some of it back from me today...a fairly genius and diabolical plan for sure.... Between the two of them they decided to get better landings and time today than I did :-)...and even that OVSS top pilot Karl Miller! Both of us took a zero landing in a round and those guy just stayed steady all day. I got mine on a flat but still stuck nose in. and Karl got pushed off the line at the very last moment by a strong ground thermal...which would occasionally roll thru the landing zone...in fact it was that reason that I came in hot and low...but the ground was very soft and my Sharon's nose took the plunge. There was a lot of good flying today.Larry Storie, Jim, Al, ....pretty much everyone had their moments of glory and excellence. Today it was a 4, 6,8,8,8...so we definitely got some stick time. I really let my Super AVA down in the last round...dropping 2mins....even with the 90 landing, it let Ken slip past me in RES. I pity the guy doesn't own a Sharon and Super AVA....what fun ships to fly. Wish you guys could have been there. Seemed like a couple of hundred pilots today :-).
