I'm sorry to see all the fuss in response to my question about the JR 9303 Radio. As I said I was just curious. I knew there was a fly-off for something or other but I wasn't really paying attention.

I don't want anyone to think I was complaining or that I felt I deserved anything. I'm happy someone won the radio and I would 100% rather it be by merit that just blind luck - the person that won the flyoff really won much more that a radio don't you think? I don't need a radio. I have a nice radio and a backup. I think CVRC made a great choice to have a flyoff.

I flew in a flyoff once and it was great fun - since I happen to win it was even greater fun. I didn't win anything but I flew very well and that's why it meant something to me. To be honest I don't get much satisfaction out of winning if I don't perform well. Aren't the most memorable times those that we did something special, even if we don't win? Winning and performing well is the absolute best of course.

I would hope that we would be more understanding and not complain about these things so much. We all know how good the Fall Festival is and we know that they try very hard to make it a great contest and I think they succeed very well. Sure they have some hiccups now and then but just look at all they get right. I have been going to the Fall Festival for 8 years and for me this was the best one ever. I got to stay under a nice shade (thank you Craig) with some nice people , I got to talk to people about sailplanes and flying, I met some new people and generally just had a great time. Oh yah, one of my flaps quit working before my flight so I had to turn my flaps off. My plane launched almost as good as with flaps, I made my time, and a did a pretty good landing, maybe a little conservative but on the grass. I was suprised how I was more focused on the planes energy than when I use flaps (after all I didn't want to kill anyone and certainly did not want to land off field!) and I could see that even when you use flaps you should really look at your energy more.

Now... Darwin, would you please tell us about your flight with the broken wing! I heard the story from you but there were a lot of people watching that flight (and cheering you on) and I'm sure they would like to hear what happened!
