If you're getting a new retriever,or changing the motor, it seems like a
12V wind is in order. I wonder if there isn't a way to play with the
existing windings to accomplish the same thing.

Hi Jim - what I did for my Rahm retriever is get 2 big honking diodes from
the surplus store and put them in series with the power line. This cuts the
voltage down so the retriever runs nice on 12v. There are also cheaper
alternatives, I think on RCGroups there was a discussion about using a
Jim and Jim,
Another thing you can do to slow or speed up the retriever is change
the gearing ratio of the pulleys being used.
The one I built was just fine for speed, it's the same the TPG uses,
sized from the plans the designer sent me. Sal Peluseo.

Buy a cheap set of jumper cables and run the retriever with these
hooked to a 12 volt battery. I ran my Rham that way for several years. If
