Re: [SoaS] network issues

2011-01-29 Thread roberto
here's what happens when i issue the same commands i use on my Debian
to get connected to Internet

* commands *
killall -9 wpa_supplicant

wpa_supplicant -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -i eth1 -B

ifconfig eth1 ip_address_here
route add default gw router_address_here eth1

and here's the report from the terminal:
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operation not possible due to RF-Kill
Could not set interface 'eth1' UP

i checked that i don't have rfkill on my debian

thank you again

i've run
# service NetworkManager status
and it issued the daemon was correctly running;
i've restarted it anyway; no troubles

moreover, if i try
# iwlist scan
my wireless AP is correctly seen and recognized but if i move with F1
to the network view then nothing appears about my AP; only three
"Ad-Hoc wireless network" without any specific name

thank you for your help !

The ad-hoc is for the creation of a new ad-hoc network. It does
sometimes take a little while to bring up the network list. Also make
sure network manager is running.

You can do that by running the command (as root) "service
NetworkManager status" and if that has issues do a "service
NetworkManager restart" to (re)start the service. Also what sort of
network device is it, wireless network adapters usually use wlan0 etc.
Did you have to add a driver to make it work to that point?

Definitely !
Using F1 I can see three spots called "Ad-Hoc Networ 1", "Ad-Hoc
Networ 2" and "Ad-Hoc Networ 3".
But none of them reports the name of my wireless router as
$ iwlist eth1 scan
does.

Yes. If you hit F1 you'll go to the network view where you can see APs
and connect from there.

Yes, but it depends on a number of things.

Sugar uses network manager and exposes the available networks in the
Neighborhood view (F1). A wired network will appear on the Frame (F6).

[SoaS] network issues

2010-12-17 Thread roberto
Hello, i recently successfully installed Mango Lassi.
It works fine. Now, i try to connect to my personal network router to
get to the Internet.
I switch to tty2 and check by
$ iwlist eth1 scan
if the signal is received and the router recognized and both they are.

Now, how can i go to configurate the network ? is there a network
manager or should i use the traditional command line tools like
ifconfig and iwconfig etc. ?

Finally, i cannot reach my laptop hard drive from within SoaS. Is
there anyway to mount it and access it while running SoaS ?

Thank you in advance !
