How OneRoof Energy's Solar Leases Save Money, Not Just The Planet
----
There's been a subtle--but very significant shift--in the solar power
market in recent years, particularly in California, where it's
actually cheaper in many cases to lease solar panels on your roof,
than to pay the power company. One of the companies that has taken
advantage of that is OneRoof Energy (www.oneroofenergy.com), a San
Diego company headed by David Field. OneRoof--which is backed by Black
Coral Capital and others--has been supplying solar leases, financing
and installing solar panels to residences to the market. We caught up
with Field to learn more about solar power leasing, why this segment
of the solar power industry has done well--in stark contrast to solar
technology developers--and what's keeping the market from growing
faster.

For those not familiar with your business, can you explain what you do?

Newport Beach-based Mindspeed and LTE chipmaker Sequans Communications

The companies said that Sequans is supplying an LTE base band chip,

in the design. The companies are targeting equipment and device
manufacturers looking to build fixed wireless gateways in the home and
small business market.

Acacia Names VP From Energy Industry
----
Newport Beach-based patent licensing firm Acacia Research Corporation

ecoATM Lets Users Help Oklahoma Tornado Victims
----
ecoATM, the developer of the used mobile phone recycling kiosks, said
last week that it will allow consumers using its kiosks to donate to
the victims of the recently Oklahoma tornadoes. In addition, the San
Diego company said it will match all the donations by its users to the
OK Strong Fund, which is providing relief to those affected by the May
19th and 20th tornadoes. The new option is the latest charitable
donation effort announced by ecoATM, which ran a similar charity
donation effort last month for the Boston Marathon victims. ecoATM

Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-ray players, Roku set-top boxes, and soon on
the Wii console, as part of an update to the service's user interface.
According to Hulu, the enhancements include new, larger, and more
vivid artwork for navigation; new trays for navigating through popular
shows, movies, and recommendations; a better search experience; a new
playback menu; and highlighting of its Hulu Kids service.

----

discover and find events and things happening locally, has raised a
funding round from newly formed Los Angeles investment firm TenOneTen,
which was founded by David Waxman and Gil Elbaz. Weotta raised funding
from Google Ventures, David Morin, and TenOneTen, and also is backed
by Data Collective, Crosslink Capital, and Eric Blachford. TenOneTen,
via David Waxman, had actually already disclosed its investment in
Weotta in an interview with socalTECH earlier this month.
