Walk In My Closet said its app is a "high-end virtual wardrobing app" which lets users take pictures of their closet, and display those as a "online boutique". The company said the app lets users shoot and upload photos, share their style, and look into the closets of fashion influencers. Walk In My Closet lets people sell their fashions through a "designer recycled" section. The new app is free. Cornerstone OnDemand Looks To Raises $220M In Debt ---- Cornerstone OnDemand, the developer of software-as-a-service for talent management and human resources, is raising $220M in a debt funding, the firm said today. The company said it is offering up $220M in an offering of convertible senior notes, due in 2018. The publicly held company said it would use the new funds for general corporate purposes. Metacloud Upgrades OpenStack Service ---- Pasadena-based Metacloud announced this morning that it has released a new version of its product, Carbon|OS. Metacloud offers up software to help businesses and enterprise deploy their own, OpenStack-based enterprise cloud. The upgraded software is based on OpenStack Grizzly. MetaCloud said it is one of the first, commercial deployments of the latest OpenStack release, OpenStack Grizzly. The update includes a new self-service tenant management system; new tools to maximize the performance of virtual machines; a better web interface; and more. Metacloud said it has already deployed the new software at its clients, which include Fortune 5000 companies in industries including entertainment, finance, and technology. Opencloud is led by Sean Lynch. VIZIO Wins In Patent Lawsuit ---- Irvine-based VIZIO, the manufacturer of HDTVs and other consumer electronics, said it has scored a win in another patent lawsuit today, saying that it has defeated a "patent troll". VIZIO said that it was granted summary judgement of invalidity on a patent held by Lochner Technologies LLC, a "non-practicing entity" (NPE). VIZIO explained that the win was the seventh recent victory by VIZIO over a "patent troll"--the many companies out there which buy patents and then proceed to aggressively license those patents to companies under threat of a lawsuit. The entire issue of "patent trolls" is now being advised by a White House task force to address the issue. Linksys Ships Home Powerline Networking Equipment ---- Irvine-based networking equipment manufacturer Linksys has released a new product today, for the home, powerline networking market. LInksys says it has shipped a new product, its Powerline HomePlug AV2 Kit, which helps consumers connect their computers into the Internet. The new product takes advantage of a home's network of power lines to provide high speed, Internet connections. Linksys is targeting homes which do not work well with wirelesss networks with the product, such as homes with concrete or steel walls, or where there are wireless dead spots. The product has a MSRP of $129.99. Naki Laundry Offers Up Deal In Launch Of Smartphone Laundry Service ---- Wish you could use your smartphone to get your laundry done? You can, kind of, if you use Naki Laundry, the new, smartphone-driven startup which lets users get their laundry done by smartphone, and which launched today in Santa Monica, has a Groupon deal aimed at attracting new users (More...) http://bit.ly/1157Yd3 Green Dot Buys GE Capital's Walmart Cards ---- Monrovia, California-based prepaid card provider Green Dot has acquired the reloadable prepaid card business of GE Capital, which are marketed under the Walmart brand, the firm said today. The companies said they expect the deal to close in the second half of the year. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. Green Dot has recently been expanding the range of services it offers, including launching a "bank for the mobile generation" called GoBank, which is powered entirely from a consumer's smartphone. Green Dot got its start providing prepaid cards for Walmart, which was a big beneficiary of Green Dot's IPO a few years ago. Silicon Beach Fest Expands Event Lineup, Sets Keynotes ---- Silicon Beach--the self-appointed name that has been used to describe many parts of Southern California's tech community, but which has seemed to have centered itself over Santa Monica and surrounding towns--has no shortage of events and conferences. Amazon Fresh, Amazon's free grocery delivery service, has only previously been available in Seattle, and offers same-day and early morning delivery on orders over $35. The service requires an additional membership fee on top of the existing, Amazon Prime subscription service, at a cost of $299 per year for both services together.
