I wanted to install a PCI 2.1 sound card (TerraTec Aureon 5.1) into
my net5501. Unfortunately, after seating the card, when I plugged in
the power, the power and error LED briefly lit up and then off
again, and the box would not start. After I had removed the card,
the box worked as
Sounds like the card is the wrong voltage. The net5501 ONLY accepts
3.3V pci cards.

Not necessarily. What card (exactly) is it? I'd be surprised if
it were in fact a 3.3v card. Most are 5v.
It's a TerraTec Aureon 5.1 PCI:

The card in my hands has two notches. It appears to be a newer

The incredibly poor design of the notch locations means that for
a dual-voltage card you might have plugged it in backwards, too.

Hi Hansen,
What OS are you running to talk with the Soekris box? Unless it's MSDOS
or a derivative, stepping through the range of supported transfer rates
from the terminal should do. Unless the feature itself is broken, of
course.

How big is your power supply? You may need a larger one with the pci card.
