Re: [Soekris] Anyone still want a net6501 GPIO driver for Linux?

2016-09-14 Thread J. Grizzard

Alright. ASCII and ye shall receive.

Two versions:

1) CentOS 7 rpm build tree:
https://github.com/elfchief/net6501-centos7-kernel

1.5) You can just take SOURCES/soekris-net6501.patch from that if you
want a patch that should work in most kernel trees (don't forget to
update your kernel config

2) https://github.com/elfchief/net6501-standalone -- "make && make load"
should get you going. VERY lightly tested, though.

Usage examples and details and such are in the README.md of the first
repository.

Questions/comments/complaints/patches all welcome!

p.s. Only tested under 3.10 kernels, but I suspect will work under most
modern kernels

[Soekris] Anyone still want a net6501 GPIO driver for Linux?

2016-09-11 Thread J. Grizzard
I spent a while digging through the soekris-tech archives and couldn't
see that anyone ever did a driver for the GPIO functionality on the
net6501 for linux -- just OpenBSD. So I wrote one.

Does anyone still have a need for this driver? If anyone still
wants/needs it, I can make it available for folks. Interest in the
net6501 seems to have cooled, though, so don't want to spend time
getting it together for more general consumption if I'm the only one
that has any desire to have it. ;)

And, semi-related: I assume that the information on actually using the
FPGA in the net6501 (beyond the included blob that gives LED/GPIO
functionality) was never released? I see references in the mailing list
archive to that information being available "in the next manual
revision", but it looks like that revision never happened. :(

Thanks!
