One more question - what does optimization do? Maybe to be a little more
precise - what happens to the index that requires optimizaion (what is the
problem and how does optimization solve it).

I've been trying to find a concise explanation of this, and seem to so far
have missed it. (Google, etc). What is the purpose/need to reindex a solr
index? How do you determine what provides the best performance? What
detrimental affects occur if you operate off of delta indexes?

Hoss,
Thanks for the response.
I was able to get multiple dist queries working, however, I've noticed
another problem.
when using
fq=_query_:"{!frange l=0 u=25 v=$qa}"
qa=dist(2,44.844833,-93.03528,latitude,longitude)
it returns 9,975 documents. When I change the upper limit to 250 it
returns
tions in a single search.

have no idea how to get the data filtered the way I need it
filtered. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I am more then
willing to provide any more information if my explanations have been
lacking in detail or clarity.
