I'm using this Lucene function with Solr 4.6.1 in a specific Update
Processor and it's working well.
How do you test the update ?
I'm using a ValueSourceRangeFilter with a LongFieldSource parameter.

Yes - here's a working example we have in production (tested in 4.8.1
and 4.10.2, but the underlying lucene stuff hasn't changed since 4.6.1
