9 Killed, Several Injured In An Ambush Along The Torit-Lafon Road Nine people were killed and several others injured including the Commissioner of Lafon County when the vehicle they were travelling in was ambushed on Sunday on the Torit–Lafon road. 11 October 2016
By Peter Lokale Nakimangole TORIT, 11 October 2016 [Gurtong] –Commissioner Ukal Kawong and the Lafon County Executive Director, Jacob Longwa were among those who were travelling in the vehicle. The commissioner sustained injuries on his limbs. The 7 wounded included a 2-year old child whose mother was killed. A police officer was also among those who were killed. The wounded were rushed to Torit Hospital where they have been receiving treatment. The attackers made away with thousands of South Sudanese Pounds which was meant for salaries for both soldiers and County civil servants in Lafon County. The money was being transported by the Commissioner.
