South Sudan shrugs off border shutdown threat from Sudan

South Sudan has downplayed threats by the Sudanese government to close the
border between the two countries, a top government official in Juba told
Radio Tamazuj.Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, spokesperson for
President Salva Kiir Ateny Wek Ateny said South Sudan is not hosting any
Sudanese rebel groups, and said there are some armed groups that have
entered the country without the knowledge of the government.

On Sunday, Khartoum threatened to close its border with South Sudan,
accusing the Juba government of supporting separatist groups in the two
regions.

Ateny added that Khartoum has not even opened its border with South Sudan.

Earlier this month, the UN envoy to Sudan and South Sudan said that
relations between the two countries were at their "lowest ebb,"
