Hello,

we had a discussion with other devels and we didn't find any catches.
So yes, we think it's a good idea!

Thanks,

This gets a +1 from me too so that the first org isn't tied to installation and
therefore a generic silent install answer file could still be used. If the org
was named/created during install, the answer file would need to be customised.

Cheers,

[Spacewalk-devel] First organization creating

2015-12-01 Thread Jan Dobes

Hello,

previously, the first organization was created during Spacewalk
certificate activation. Now, after entitlements removal, there are
several SQL inserts doing this present in spacewalk-setup. [1]

I was thinking, wouldn't be simpler to create first organization when
first Spacewalk user is created in Java code? Or am I missing something
and there is something dependent on organization created during
installation? What do you think?

+1

I'd like to avoid installer creating the initial organization for me.
It either would need to choose some default name for the initial org,
or the user would need to pass the name via an installer option/answer
file.

I like the idea freshly installed Spacewalk wouldn't contain any orgs
(spacewalk-setup wouldn't touch orgs at all - neither at installation,
nor at upgrade). And let the user create the 1st org with the 1st user.
So, yes, I'm for extending the first user creation page with an additional
'1st org name' input.
