Have any of you tried doing a rhel7 to rhel8 upgrade using spacewalk?
According to the redhat upgrade instructions you can do the upgrade without
being connected to redhat, but it looks like they want you to use repos.d repo
files. Wondering if you would need to do that if you have spacewalk r
Have any of you tried integrating ansible tower/awx with spacewalk? I know it
is supposed to be able to work with satellite, but not sure if it will do the
same with spacewalk. If you have done this, do you have any recommended
websites describing how to do it?
I just registered a group of servers with channels on a new spacewalk server
and I'm seeing something odd in yum repolist - several of the channels are
listing as number+number. Any idea what is up with this?

Does anyone know of a way to issue a remote command to a server using spacecmd?
It is not jumping out at me from the spacecmd help menu.

I recently moved a group of servers from our old 2.7 instance to a new 2.10
instance. All of the channels and repositories on the new instance are
identical to the old instance; however, after registering the servers to the
new instance, the spacewalk web page doesn't show that any of the serve
We are using a universal registration key for all our redhat servers and have
then been registering them to various vase channels using the spacewalk GUI;
however, I want to automate this in kickstart. When I try to manually register
a new server I get the following -

I'm trying to set up kickstart on our spacewalk for the first time. We have a
pretty old version, 2.7. I can create a centos kickstart tree, but when I try
to create a rhel version the sync says Kickstartable tree not detected (no

We are trying to figure out how to automate registering our servers with
specific repositories. Currently, we kickstart new servers and have them
register to spacewalk using a universal activation key that has no channels
associated with it. We did this so that when we create new frozen channe
We previously ran Spacewalk 2.4 and early on, we were able to run remote
commands to our registered servers and they pretty much responded right away.
After a while we got to the point where almost none of the servers would
respond to remote commands. We now have spacewalk 2.7 running and I'm
I just built a new spacewalk 2.8 repo and started syncing packages to it about
a week ago. I am now trying to do some test patching of my redhat 6 servers but
discovered that there seem to be a lot of missing packages. For instance, I
have a 2.6.32-642.1.1.el6.x86_64 server (6.8) that I tried t
Hi - we currently have spacewalk 2.4 running on a rhel6 server and built a new

would like to shut down the old one and bring up the new one with the old

I just noticed that one of my spacewalk repos is throwing this error every time
a sync runs -
ERROR: invalid literal for int() with base 10: 'RHSA-2015:0087'
Google seems to show that this is a python error. My repos are syncing
successfully. Does anyone know what would cause this error?
thanks
We recently inherited a bunch of redhat 5 servers and I'm trying to find a repo

I am looking at using spacewalk for orchestration - for instance, I want to be
able to upgrade an app on a group of servers every month without any downtime.
To do this, I would need to ensure that the app installs successfully on every
server within a specific time frame. I have osad running
thanks, this fixed the problem.
