Brighton Digital Festival at Phoenix For the Brighton Digital Festival Phoenix Brighton have selected talks and workshops that bring together technology with hands on art practice and making. The workshops and talks are suitable for adults at all levels of experience, just bring your own creativity and an open mind (technological expertise is not necessary). Artists Talk: Emilie Giles “MzTEK and the Chi-TEK Project – Women, Art and Technology” as part of Brighton Digital Festival Time: 7pm Date: 5th September 2012 Room: Green Room Café Open to all free of charge, refreshments available Workshop: An Introduction to Working with Soft Circuits for Women with MzTEK Learn how to create soft circuits to make stitched or wearable electronic and interactive artworks. Make crochet chains with conductive yarn, sew with conductive thread and make buttons with conductive material (all materials supplied). You will also learn how to make your own mini chatbot! The workshop is aimed at women only and celebrates Alan Turing Year. Presented by Phoenix Brighton as part of the Brighton Digital Festival. Cost: £20 Times: 12:30 – 5pm Dates: 8th September 2012 Artists Talk: Alex May “Painting with Light” as part of Brighton Digital Festival Time: 7pm Date: 12th September 2012 Room: Green Room Café Open to all free of charge, refreshments available Painting with Light with Alex May This is a workshop for fine artists, painters, VJ's, and digital artists who will be introduced to Alex's new free software that allows you to easily 'paint' 3D objects with light using a computer and video projector. Learn the basics of how to get started up to more advanced techniques such as painting with colour-cycling and moving video, and other animation features. Suitable for anyone wanting to explore a new medium and an artistic approach to video mapping. The software will be available free to participants.
