have you read the faq on http://speedtouch.sourceforge.net ?
4.10 I get lot of LCP-Config-Request Timeouts
When trying to dial with pppd, I see this in my syslogd logs :
Apr 27 11:26:05 leloo pppd[262]: pppd 2.4.1 started by root, uid 0
Apr 27 11:26:05 leloo pppd[262]: Using interface ppp0
Peter and Yvon,
Nobody responded on my mail concerning CVS version problem.
But my messages and symptoms were almost the same - pppd connected
but only LCP requests then. And sometimes Cell had wrong VPI with
very different numbers every line.
Should Martin better downgrade speedtouch package
Thanks you all your repies. I am still very interested in any
testimonies about the Speedtouch used in Germany. The net did not show
any traces of another setup like mine. Hard to believe.

Try adding verbosity to pppoa3 line in the peer file (option -v 2)

hi,
Did you try to launch modem_run and pppoa3 with both -e 1 options
(that comes with latest CVS version of the driver) ?

Someone in a dsl newsgroup told me that the Deutsche Telekom uses
pppoe and not pppoa. Frankly I did not quite understand. Does it
really matter how I speek to my modem ? I guess it does.
Does the other side speek ip-over_ppp-over_ethernet-over_atm and a
simple ip-over_ppp-over_atm won't do ?
I've got the same problem in mandrake 9.0 with the 330 modem.
Is the CVS suited for the SpeedTouch 330 ?

Yes. You need the -e 1 switch.

You EITHER do ppp over atm (PPPoA) or ppp over Ethernet (PPPoE). Yes it
does matter which you use because this is how the modem communicates
with the peer on the other side. PPPoA encapsulates the PPP frames
within ATM frames while PPPoE encapsulates the PPP frames in Ethernet
frames.
Does not work, the -e 1 switch
