[speedtouch] Re: Starting my adsl connection.

2004-01-26 Thread Konrad Klimaszewski

Hi All,
I have similar problem.
Unplugging USB cable and reconnecting it again works for me.
Unfortunatelly I have to do it every time I boot my computer.
If someone has better suggestions I would be gratefull.

[speedtouch] Starting my adsl connection.

2004-01-26 Thread Richard Fieldsend

Dear All,
I've successfully installed speedbundle, and everything works great most of
the time. However, when I boot up sometimes the connection to the internet
doesn't startup. I su to root and run pppd call speedtch

The output reads:-

Plugin pppoatm.so loaded
PPPoATM plugin_init
PPPoATM setdevname - remove unwanted options
PPPoATM setdevname_pppoatm - SUCCESS:0.38
connect(0.38): No such device

When I reboot at this time the connection gets setup. I've tried logging out,
and logging back in again, but no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in anticipation

[speedtouch] Re: AMD 64 Fedora

2004-01-26 Thread Pete Bradbury

My system id a AMD64-fx51 a 64bit processor

I have the Fedora 64bit installed

I downloaded from Thomson the linux Alcatel bundle
I have kernel2.4.22-1.2.35.nplt

lsub reports the Alcatel Telecom Speedtouch as beeing present

I think I don't need to install hotplugging as it appears to already be
present
speedtch.o is supplied with this fedora as per lsmod

i did a make
make install with now errors and modprobe recognises it

if i plug the modem in
it blinks twice fast and then both are green ( this is not how it boots
under xp which is much longer)

if I do a 'sh speedtouch' nothing appears to happen

a ifconfig reveals only what I think is local host and nothing else

Yes, you are very unspecific. For instance, what kernel do you use? It
seems speedtch.o is not automatically built with the Fedora 2.6 kernel.

[speedtouch] Speedtouch on Fedora Core 1 with 2.6 kernel

2004-01-26 Thread Miel H.

Dear all,

I've succesfully installed the kernel-model driver for the (red) Speedtouch USB modem
on a standard Fedora Core 1 installation using the HOWTO from Eric Brasseur (see
http://www.4p8.com/eric.brasseur/speedbundle_fedora.html). Next, I've upgraded my
kernel to 2.6 by using the HOWTO from Jorge Gallegos (see
http://www.fedoranews.org/jorge/howto/howto01.shtml). However, after rebooting into
the 2.6 kernel, the Speedtouch modem isn't working (as I more or less expected). What
are the required steps to get it to work? Should I redo the procedure as outlined by
Eric Brasseur (i.e. reinstall speedbundle)? Or is there another way of doing this. Any
help would be very much appreciated.

Regards,

Miel.

[speedtouch] Re: silver modem

2004-01-26 Thread Edward Ponting

I'm another new USB Silver Thomson SpeedTouch 330 modem owner with firmware
issues.
I'm currently running it on a Windows ME box but ideally want to run it on a
SUSE 8.2 linux router I have.

What can I do to help?
I have some programming skills and a bit of time to test stuff but don't
have much firmware knowledge. Perhaps someone could point me in the right
direction??

If every owner of a silver speedtouch would mention
the town, where they're living in, a willing developer
in the neighbourhood could 'switch' modems for a while and
take a look at it..

Would that be a good idea?

Ok

[speedtouch] 330/Rev 400 (silver modem) - Got it working!

2004-01-26 Thread Lewis Jardine
Revision 400 speedtouch 330s are not compatible with existing drivers,
as any firmware existing in the wild is either incompatible with the
speedtouch 330/rev400, or incompatible with the linux drivers.

I just received a disc from my ISP with a newer windows driver for the
330 than is available from the speedtouch website.

Included with it is a firmware for the 330 that is compatible with the
linux drivers.

0503efe8d7efc0fe10e7593cecdb8fb8 *./ZZZLP1.eni
354ead15a7323fca88f8fbfad33caf68 *./ZZZLP2.eni

To get them working:

1 - apply the patch below (originally written by Martin Galpin) to
modem_run.c, and recompile modem_run. This will get modem_run using the
new firmware upload code, compatible with the 330.

2 - use your new modem_run with this new firmware, and set up ppp, etc.
as if you were using any of the other speedtouches.

Download the firmware from http://www.ihate.freeserve.co.uk/rev4fw.zip ,
available for one month, until thomson tells me to stop distributing
it, or until thomson starts distributing it itself, whichever comes first.

I'm probably not the best person to ask about the silver modem; all I
know is how I got my silver modem to work, not how you can get yours to
work :)

[speedtouch] AMD 64 Fedora

2004-01-26 Thread Pete Bradbury

I've been trying to get the Frog to work with th AMD 64 flavour of Fedora.
But so far seems to fail .

Am I miising something that need to be done? I'm not being specific as I
imagine there must be a fundamental
difference between the present Alcatel solution and the Amd64 requirements.

Since my ADSL-Router is working fine, I have downloaded tonns of stuff ;-)

But now I have a little problem:

At the first Installation, I have had the Connection Speed in my
/var/log/syslog but now there is nothing anymode...

I have changed some setings, but I do not know what I have changed that
it disappers...

On the other hand, the $PPP_SPPEED does not work korrectly...
Give only 38400 back...

How can I get the real Speed from Up- and Down-Stream ?

Thanks
