Well, after a few aborted atempts at Linux over the past few years, it was time to try again. Using speedtouch-1.2.tar.bz2 in Fedora Core 1 I managed to get my silver Speedtouch 330 to connect me to the net. All was fine and rosy until I decided to be flash and upgrate to Fedora Core 2 Test 3. This incorporates the 2.6.5 kernel. Now I've hit problems :o(
modem_run seems to cause problems... It compiles fine and when run the modem lights go on and off as they did before. However, my sytem log gets dumped with: May 7 19:34:11 localhost modem_run[2002]: modem_run version 1.2 started by root uid 0 May 7 19:34:11 localhost kernel: usb 6-2: usbfs: interface 2 claimed while 'modem_run' sets config #1 May 7 19:34:13 localhost kernel: usb 6-2: bulk timeout on ep5in May 7 19:34:13 localhost kernel: usbfs: USBDEVFS_BULK failed dev 2 ep 0x85 len 512 ret -110 May 7 19:34:17 localhost kernel: usb 6-2: usbfs: interface 0 claimed while 'modem_run' sets config #1 May 7 19:34:17 localhost kernel: usb 6-2: usbfs: interface 2 claimed while 'modem_run' sets config #1 May 7 19:34:30 localhost modem_run[2003]: [monitoring report] ADSL link went up May 7 19:34:47 localhost modem_run[2002]: ADSL synchronization has been obtained May 7 19:34:47 localhost modem_run[2002]: ADSL line is up (576 kbit/s down | 288 kbit/s up) May 7 19:34:47 localhost modem_run[2003]: Error reading interrupts May 7 19:34:47 localhost modem_run[2003]: [monitoring report] ADSL link went down May 7 19:34:47 localhost modem_run[2003]: Device disconnected, shutting down May 7 19:34:47 localhost modem_run[2002]: pusb_release_interface 2 failed As expected, pppd then fails completely. I've done a search and can't find anything. Any ideas before I dich my latest install and go back to Core 1?
