Hey,

I don't think I've answered to these various threads, but personally I'm
fine with the move.

Re: [Spice-devel] Gitlab - 2018!

2018-04-24 Thread Victor Toso
Hey,

JFYI, we'll be migrating to gitlab.freedesktop.org late this
week, see:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/freedesktop/freedesktop/issues/9

We already have a group there with users with git access to spice
project were created already, see:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/spice

When the move happens, I plan to make gitlab.com/spice a mirror
of gitlab.freedesktop.org (code) and disable the option to open
issues (in gitlab.com).

Projects and issues created in gitlab.com are going to be moved
to gitlab.freedesktop.org.

Cheers,
toso

Thanks Lukás, Jonathon, Snir, c3d and Uri.

CC'ing missing people that has contributed in the past months or
years. Don't think we need an ack from everyone but let me know
if you have any concern on moving to freedesktop's instance of
gitlab in the next week or so.

Agreed. But if we can’t sync automatically, maybe we should plan to shutdown

Can't see much new stuff there? Should be easy to do it by hand

The start of this thread was about gitlab.com. What do we plan to do with the
existing stuff there, then? Is there a way to fully sync two gitlab instances?
Quickly searching on the web, I only found ways to sync repositories, not
issues.

Hi,

So, no bug migration at this point. Repos can be done as soon as
team sign up for Gitlab. If you have ssh access already, just go
to link [0], add your username and request for a password in
'Forgot your password' - that will send you an url by email to
(re)set it.

Then please either add a comment or just 'like' the comment #0 in
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/freedesktop/freedesktop/issues/9

AFAICS, the old git will be read only. We don't need to disable
it if that was what you asked?

With the Geoclue, that's what Daniel did. Bugzilla should come to
migration at a later time.

> Is there a way to move bugzilla bugs to gitlab issues?

Seems he has some script to do it. People from GNOME have
something to migrate bugzilla (issues + comments at least) to the
new Gitlab instance (not the freedesktop one, nor the gitlab.com)

> Are we talking about freedesktop gitlab instance of gitlab.com?

Freedesktop is running its on Gitlab instance, yes. I'm in favor
of keeping using freedesktop.org's infra but moving to their
Gitlab.

If all is good, we then move gitlab.com repo and bugs to the
gitlab.freedesktop.org one.

toso

I agree on the migration... at least the repositories.
Is not clear how we want to proceed however.
Should the freedesktop guy do everything? Should we just clone, wait and
close (disable temporarily?) freedesktop?
Should we move everything at the same time of maybe first repositories
then bugs?
Is there a way to move bugzilla bugs to gitlab issues?
Are we talking about freedesktop gitlab instance of gitlab.com?

Manually, which would be a good opportunity for triage, I guess.
Or do you mean that gitlab/issues is not compatible with
bugzilla?

I am in favor, but don't want to make a strong voice since I'm not that
familiar with all the details yet.

Thanks for pushing to resolve this though, I don't like the current
ambiguous state of things.

Ok, this was my first question, moving just the infrastructure for now
is fine with me.

Would we be able to migrate the bugs which are on freedesktop to gitlab?

For what it's worth, moving these back to freedesktop probably means
finding the right people to ping to get it done ;)

Overall, I would not mind moving to gitlab, as this gives us more
control over the various administrative tasks we want to perform (create
new repos, give commit rights to users, ..).

[Spice-devel] Gitlab - 2018!

2018-02-19 Thread Victor Toso
Hi,

There was a thread in 2016 about moving to gitlab [0] which it
was not complete done. New projects have been started in gitlab
instead of freedesktop and without notice, some users are even
filling bugs there already [1].

[0]
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/spice-devel/2016-September/032456.html
[1] https://gitlab.com/groups/spice/-/issues

Some issues around this is 'how to do patch review' or 'are we
going to accept PR'. IMHO, I would like to first move the code
infrastructure there while keeping our current work flow with ML.

I would like to suggest moving from bugzilla to gitlab issues
too, in order to centralize code + issues but we don't need to do
it right away.

But I don't think the current state is okay, with code and bugs
in freedesktop + gitlab.

Please, I would love some feedback with this either way
(okay/against it). If people don't want to move, we should make
gitlab's instance a mirror (like github should be, but isn't) and
use its gitlab-ci while disabling the issues/wiki, etc. and
moving to freedesktop what was created in gitlab (spice-nsis,
streaming-agent, maybe more).

Note that I did some naming changes with the gitlab repo that was
pointed out in [0]. I'm 100% okay in moving back to how it is set
in freedesktop.

Cheers,
toso
