The client must implement this feature and virt-managers's viewer does
not, it seems.

So, just virt-viewer for now.

BTW, with the new spice-webdavd you don't need to run the .bat file
anymore ;) - after enabling the shared-folder in your virt-viewer it
should automagically appear as Z: (or other available letter) to you.

It was unclear to us that "enable it on the client" was a different step
than "configuration using virt-manager", documented under the same
header in the documentation.

That works now!

One last question: can this feature be accessed directly from
virt-manager integrated viewer, or should we document using virt-viewer?

Thanks again for your patience.

We already tried that, but it is not working. What we did:

1. From a fresh Windows 8.1 install
2. Install spice-guest-tool-latest.exe from:
https://www.spice-space.org/download/windows/spice-guest-tools/spice-guest-tools-latest.exe
3. Install spice-webdav-x64-latest.msi from

4. Shut down the virtual machine
5. In virt-manager:
a. Add Hardware --> Channel
b. As name select org.spice-space.webdav.0
c. As device type select Spice port
d. Aplly changes
6. Power on the machine

Hi,

The documentation states that "By default folder sharing is disabled"
(As Snir mentioned above, one needs to enable it on the client)
6.5 run remote-viewer spice://host:port and enable folder sharing,
and choose a directory to share, via File->Preferences menu.

7. Verify that spice-webdav service is running
7. From the Command line, we run: C:\Program File\SPICE
webdavd\map-drive.bat

We already tried that, but it is not working. What we did:

d. Aplly changes
6. Power on the machine
7. Verify that spice-webdav service is running
7. From the Command line, we run: C:\Program File\SPICE
webdavd\map-drive.bat

The command return some text, including:

"System error 67 has occured

The network name cannot be found"

No new drives are visible in Windows.

Here, a scrennshot of the command result:

We are running under:

Debian stretch RC3, Linux kernel 4.9.0.2-amd64

qemu-kvm:1:2.8+dfsg-3

Yes we use the latest one,

no, it seems like you are using the old documentation (it was updated
few days ago).

We read updated and old documentation both. Our problem is that we don't
find the Webdav drive under Windows. We are probably missing something,
but we cannot figure it out.

Could you give us some tips?

You should enable the shard folder through the client's menu & make sure
the spice-webdav service is running in the guest, than you should be able

s/than/then/
s/shard/shared/
to mount it by running the "C:\Program Files\SPICE webdavd\map-drive"
file.

(will show up as V:\ or W:\)

maybe Z:\

this process should be specified somewhere but i also can't find it now :/

Sorry, there is auto-mount in latest version (2.2) so it should mount
automatically
(that's why it is not specified anymore) but you could still try it
manually, it may help..

Hope this helps
Snir.
