Well, she runs, and she DRIVES! Yes! The 64 Herald emerged this evening, around 10, to
a cloudy moonlit night, for her inaugural cruise around the block. 4.1 miles later,
she went back into her bay for rest and finishing up details- hood and frame
installation, lower sill panels, rear seat.

Sounds u-joint-ish. Jack up and support the rear of the car
and do a visual inspection. Also see if you can get any free
play prising the two flanges back and forth with a large
screwdriver. Any more than minute movements means the uj is
done for.
The loud clunk is a bad sign, but may also be

I just used an appropriately sized bolt (7/16 hex I think). I used two nuts
to lock the end and then with a wrench --removed the sleeve that holds the
valve. I think that is what they mean by "instrument of removal" !!
