Hello Listers, I just wanted to thank everyone in the listings who responded
to my questions concerning seats. From what I have gathered is that Toyota
Celica, Pontiac Fiero, and Miata seats are the best option to use as
replacements. I has made a purchase for Miata seats from a list member and I
As I recall the message said to remove the seat bottom cover foam, trim
some foam from the *bottom*, particularly in the center scoop or bowl.
Reassemble. The seat looks stock, but you sink down deeper into it.

Jerry,
I went the Mazda MX5/Miata route, and I was not too happy with the
result. They fit in width-wise, but the bottom of the seat base is
significantly higher than the original seats. This is partly because
the base is deeper, but also because the underneath of the base of the

Yeah, Paul, I used your instructions to mount the seats, as that seemed
to put the runners as low as they could get compared to other peoples
methods. But I didn't do any foam mods; maybe if I had I'd have been
happier with the results.
Oh well, Daffy is old history now, so too late to try and
I've a pair of Miata seats if you're interested.
Many racing seats are a bear to get in and out of. Cheap ones tend to be
about as comfortable to sit on as a board. Do consider that.
Not sure what you're saying about selling outright on e-bay. If you mean
buy it now, there are several

of?
Thanks!

Brian,
I've seen them, and considered them for my 71. I fell into a set of Miata
seats went that route. The main concern that I had was the width about
shoulder height. Would there be room to accomadate the top mechanism without
screwing up the seat from rubbing?

Looking at the Rimmers website

the seats were unchanged from 1973 until the end of production. They were

Jon, The rear seat was a bit of a headache. I toyed with the idea of just
covering the existing Herald seats with that nice grey cloth. Then I decided
to fit the Escort rear seats in the Herald. This had slight problems, the
main one being the Herald is a lot narrower than the Escort. So I just

Alternatively you could fit a completely different seat. Several have tried
