I'm thinking more along the lines of researching the actual techniques that
go into the execution of these messages, types of crypto, confirmed cases
etc.

Would guess an EAM. 16 KHz above WWV, which in radio tems is enough space
for about 7 seperate average voice transmissions without interference to
each other or really be noticed.
