It was having a speech generator error. Here is the recording: http://soundcloud.com/presentedin4d/v2a-20-minutes-of-tx Anyone have any idea of what could have happened? Visit http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/spooks to unsubscribe from this list The Magic Mouse runs at 2.4 Ghz, it's a Bluetooth device. Now, it is very likely that the mouse has spurious emissions out the wazoo, especially since its entire top is a multi-touch capacitive touchpad. Touchscreen/touchpad devices are fairly notorious for honking out HF noise. A friend of mine had an electric range in his kitchen in a house he was renting where he literally had to throw its breaker if he wanted to hear anything on HF... then put up with it blinking 12:00 after turning it back on to use it again. Newer: Not Always Better I used to have a Microsoft wireless mouse that was just audible on a CB radio for about a block. The thing was just too powerful for its own good; I could move the pointer around from across the house. Batteries lasted about a week. Visit http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/spooks to unsubscribe from this list The recording called wtf.mpg, labeled as CB channel packets at the website: http://soundcloud.com/presentedin4d/cb-channel-packets It is the transmission from a wireless keyboard, most likely manufactured for Logitech and operating on 27.145 MHz. On very rare instances you will find them on 27.195 MHz Judging by the quality of the signal I'd say the source was within 200' of you, although some of these have been noted as far as seven miles. For hundreds of recordings and photos of equipment operating in the 27 MHz range since the 1960's, known as Class C devices, join the Class C Telemetry group on yahoo: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Class_C_Telemetry/ You will also find there ACTUAL packets, 9600 baud, from equipment operating on 27.255 Mhz. Tom, Possibly. I know a few people all listening at the same time who were encountering the same signal issue. -4D On Feb 17, 2011, at 4:44 PM, Tom Morris wrote: Visit http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/spooks to unsubscribe from this list It sounds a bit like an excessively high audio level slamming into a limiter and pumping it. Visit http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/spooks to unsubscribe from this list : Kurt, hmm, thanks for that. I use a mac, so it might be my wireless magic mouse. A mouse has a slightly different sound when scrolling. Same encoding scheme, but due to the sampling rate for fine mouse movements, the bursts are intermixed with a steady hissing/buzzing sound. If you dont' know the operating frequency of your mouse, check the FCC ID#, or you can post it here and I can tell you.
