I have done one but didn't protect the carousel just the building.
It was old and from Germany and was refinished and a new wood structure built
around it.
It operated on a hydraulic system.

How about the Inspector insist they remove the canopy?

Keep in mind that the pan is steel and the canopy could also be configured in
panels so that it's open. It can even be made of indoor/outdoor fabric like
Sunbrella®.

Our "gut feeling" what this shouldn't be an issue. Sprinklers above to cool if
it catches fire. Easy egress for passengers if it did catch on fire. But
didn't have anything to substantiate our "feelings".
Looks like
Sorry - I misspoke. FP is 655-750°F; auto-ignition is +800°F.

Subject: RE: Indoor Amusement Ride - Carousel
I did a technical report a few years ago for a carousel that was moved into a
covered mall. If it's modern, the figures are made of polymer resin, which
when cured has a FP of 800-900°F if I recall correctly.Turns out that
carousels aren't really much of a hazard in that regard, but you
For a Carousel Amusement Ride located indoors, has anyone had to provide
sprinklers under the roof canopy directly above the people riding the ride? We
have sprinklers at the roof of the building the carousel is located within.
If we have to do this, logistically it will be interesting. I do
Your right Travis,
Tyco said that if the area was over 400SF you could not run CPVC.
Thanks

I don't believe you can. Otherwise, why would that exception need to be
in there? The concealed space is always LH...well probably 99% of the time.

Can CPVC pipe be used to protect the interstitial space (CC2 sprinklers)
and supply the pendant sprinklers in a garage (OH I occupancy) greater that
400SF? My thoughts are that it is allowed since the space above is
considered light hazard.
