If you pipe the sprinkler with a smaller diameter line then that sprinkler
has to be part of your hydraulic calculation (arguably you could just
switch to the sprinkler below the obstruction and remove the sprinkler
above the obstruction, as you are not required to
What I have is an ESFR system where i need to add a single sprinkler in 2
locations under ducts. 23.4.4.7.3.1 states that sprinklers under obstructions
do not need to be included in hydraulic calculations. 23.4.4.7.3.2 states that
if the sprinklers are under obstructions are piped
