I don't interpret it that way. If you notice the garages references in
6.7.3
are all described as being attached, and the commentary you mention in
6.8 refers you back to 6.7.3.
There is no reference to detached garages in 13R.

The easiest way to answer this is to remember that 13R is an
installation standard and not a code therefore it can't tell you where
sprinklers are required but merely how you do when they are. 6.7.3.1
pretty much says this when it states that if the code would consider
the garage to be a separate b
Is it the intent of 6.7.3 and the commentary for 6.8 in the 2002 edition of
13R to require a detached garage to be protected?
