That was always my understanding: if there was something that could
block the heat plume and fire (lintel and/or CLOSED door) then there
was only communication to the adjoining compartment(s). If both
conditions were not present then there was no compartment separation
and although looking like the

egress path out of the room. I've heard there will be a proposal to
clarify this since it was alleged that the dictionary has two
definitions and one indicates such. I can not find this other
